Riding on the confidence gained from their first away draw of the season against Barau FC in Kano last weekend, Kwara United will look to build on that momentum when they host Bendel Insurance of Benin in their NPFL Matchday 11 fixture on Sunday at the Rashidi Yekini Main-Bowl of the George Agbazika Innih Stadium Complex, Ilorin.
The Harmony Boys are focused and determined to secure a positive result, with the intensity and grit displayed during Friday’s training session underlining their readiness for the encounter against the Benin Arsenal.
Bendel Insurance completed a league double over Kwara United last season, winning the first leg in Benin by two first-half goals before securing a 1-0 victory in Ilorin. Kwara United will therefore, be eager to reverse that record and give their supporters something to celebrate.
There is encouraging news for the Ilorin-based side, as goalkeeper Ouattara Khalifa and Tosin Olawale have returned to training after spending weeks on the sidelines due to injuries. Saheed Olaniyi is also available again after serving his mandatory two-match suspension following his red card in the fixture against Ikorodu City in Lagos.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s encounter, Kwara United Coach, Ashifat Sulyman described the point earned in Kano as a morale booster for the team as they prepare for the next challenge.
He, however, cautioned against being carried away by the result, stressing the need for the team to remain focused while urging supporters to continue backing the club with unwavering support.
“We will not be swayed by the result in Kano. We see it as an opportunity to restore our fans’ confidence,” he concluded.
With the team determined to turn their renewed confidence into a home victory, supporters are expected to turn out in large numbers to cheer the Harmony Boys to success.
Fans can purchase their match tickets through the Chowdeck App ahead of what promises to be an intense and action-packed 90-minute encounter on Sunday, or at designated centers, on match day.
