Hard fighting New Era Boys today won the 8th edition of Victor Okosun U10 Christmas championship by defeating Future Stars 2-0 in a pulsating final game played at A-Division playing field in Ilorin, Kwara state.
From the blast of the whistle, New Era Boys were asking questions about their opponents.
In the 10th minutes, Salman Asukuti rounded off the opposition defender before slotting the ball to the far post.
With one goal down, Future Stars came into the second half firing from all cylinders, but they were unfortunate not to equalize.
Against the run of play, Blessing Adeleye went on a solo run before unleashing a powerful shot that beat the Future Stars goalkeeper for the second.
The annual tournament is being sponsored by a philanthropist cum banker, Mr. Victor Okosun.
Highlights of the closing ceremony was the presentation of cash prizes to all the participating teams as well as the entertainment the kids.
