Amira Mohammed wins Sapetro Junior Tennis Tournament, adds to growing trophy haul

Kwara State tennis has recorded another promising success with young sensation Amira Mohammed, daughter of the Chairman of the Kwara State Tennis Association, ACP Tunde Mohammed Magaji Nda, emerging champion of the 2026 Sapetro Junior Tennis Tournament in Lagos State.

Amira clinched the U-12 title at the tournament, further underlining her growing reputation as one of the young talents to watch in Nigerian junior tennis.

The latest triumph is another significant addition to her collection of honours this year.

Earlier in 2026, Amira won a silver medal at the CBN Junior Tennis Championship, demonstrating her consistency and steady progress on the national junior tennis circuit.

Her victory at the Sapetro tournament is particularly significant for the Kwara State Tennis Association, which has continued to promote junior development and provide opportunities for young players to compete and gain valuable experience beyond the state.

The achievement also comes against the backdrop of the leadership of her father, ACP Tunde Mohammed Magaji Nda, who has been at the helm of the Kwara State Tennis Association and has continued to champion the development of tennis in the state.

Reacting to the victory, ACP Magaji Nda congratulated Amira for her achievement, while also commending her teammates and other players who represented Kwara at the championship.

He expressed pride in the players’ performances, noting that their successes are a reflection of the commitment, discipline and growing development of tennis in Kwara State.

The Sapetro title represents more than another trophy for Amirat. It is another milestone in what is becoming an impressive junior tennis journey, and another indication that the future of Kwara tennis could be very bright.
