As part of efforts to boost sports development in Ekiti state, and to ensure a high-quality performance from the athletes at the National Sports Festival, Edo 2020, the Chairman of the State Sports Council, Dr. Isaac Ayodele has set up a Main Organising Committee (MOC) for the event.

Inaugurating the Committee in Ado Ekiti, Ayodele stated that the organizing committee was set up to come up with action plans to put all necessary machinery in motion to ensure success at the National Sports Festival.

The Committee, which consists of all board members and management staff of the Sports Council, will work assiduously to make sure that all preparations are completed for a better showing in the 2020 edition.

Reiterating the commitment of the Fayemi-led administration to the development of sports in the State, the Chairman said that the Governor of the state has instructed that the welfare of athletes and coaches be prioritized.

He described Governor Kayode Fayemi as a man of honour who is very passionate about sports and the general well-being of the people in the State.

Ayodele also charged the athletes to put in a good performance and make the State proud at the event. He said the State is investing in them and they should reciprocate by performing well this year.

‘‘Governor Fayemi has told us to ensure that the athletes and coaches are well taken care of and has also charged the athletes to do exploits at the National Sports Festival. To whom much is given, much is expected. The State has invested in the athletes and they should now go to the games and make us proud” said the Chairman.

Speaking about the preparations, he disclosed that the athletes had begun training ever since it had been announced that the National Sports Festival would still hold this year.

He however stated that the intensive training camp for the athletes would begin soon as the sports festival has now been slated to hold between 3rd and 17th December 2020.
