The brainbehind Offa Pre-Season Football Tournament, Alhaji Azeez Olarenwaju Omoluabi has stated that the rational behind the tournament was to support teams in Kwara state and Nigeria at large.

Olarewaju stated this during an interview with journalists on Wednesday, in Ilorin.

He highlighted that the tournament also served as an avenue to give support to the talented footballers in Offa and its environs, for them to thrive in Nigeria second-tier and apex league.

Omoluabi disclosed that it was not easy organising the tournament but people came out to give full support to the event.

“It was a hard task for me but I thank God that people came out to give us support”

Omoluabi said that he appreciated the tremendous supports of Avalon Hotels, Hengee Hotel and Resort, MM Oil and Gas and MOK Foundation, as they contributed immensely to the event in cash and kind.

He commended them for keying into the mission, vision, aims and objectives of the tournament.

He hailed Kwara State Government for providing enabling environment for sports to thrive in the state and also commended Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State chapter for the wide coverage of the tournament.

Azeez Olarenwaju Omoluabi promised that the tournament will be a continuous program, adding that the next edition will be better in terms of organization.

Teams that participated in the tournament are; Igbajo United, HMK, Osun United, ABS Ilorin FC, Okaa Sports FC, FEDPOFFA FC, Laycon FC, Offa FC and Abraysports FC.
