Arrangements have been concluded by the Kwara State Volleyball Association to Organise the first edition of the Female Volleyball Championship in the state.
According to the Organisers, the Championship is tagged Female Volleyball Super Cup ‘Oloru 2021’ and sponsored by the immediate past Commissioner for Works and Transport, Engr. Rotimi Sulyman will hold between January 28th to 30th, in Oloru, Moro Local Government area of Kwara State.
Eight teams from five states, including Lagos, Niger, Kaduna and Kwara will participate in the three days event.
Speaking at the Press Conference heralding the championship at the Conference Room of the Sports Council, the sponsor of the tournament, Engr. Rotimi Sulyman said the competition was put together to increase awareness about the game and to provide template for youth to showcase and nurture their talents to stardom.
He said that the championship was an attempt to develop the game volleyball from the grassroots.
He also added that the competition, which he vowed to sustain, was a way of giving back to the society.
Engr. Rotimi commended the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahaman AbdulRasaq for creating an enabling environment for sports to thrive through his laudable achievements in sport promotion and programme, adding that his radical sports infrastructural development is unprecedented.
The winner of the competition, according to the organizers, will go home with One hundred thousand naira, first runners up will get sixty thousand naira, while the second and third runners up is expected to get forty thousand naira and twenty thousand naira respectively, for coming third and fourth.
Each participating team will also get will ten thousand naira each, as consolatory prizes.
