The Special Assistant on Sports Department to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,. Mr. Anthony Olayinka has commended Kwara Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for stepping up support for the state’s daring team ahead of the President Federation Cup final.

Equally, the Vice Chairman of Kwara State Football Association, Bashorun Kayode Bankole thank the Governor for supporting sports development in the state, and for sustaining support for Kwara United Football Club.

Kwara United Football Club will take on already relegated Nigeria National League (NNL) side, Abakaliki FC in the final of the Premier Cup competition on Saturday June 28, 2025, at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos.

Kwara United’s campaign is receiving tremendous support, especially ahead of the final, with the duo of Mr. Anthony Olayinka and Bashorun Kayode Bankole complementing the efforts of the government.

The Ọro-born administrator, Mr. Anthony Olayinka and Bashorun Bankole said that grounds will be adequately prepared for Kwara United in Lagos ahead of the all-important clash.

The duo have put mercenaries in motion to ensure Kwara United hits Lagos well ahead of time, and also have enough time and suitable ace to train in Lagos.

This year, Kwara United reached both the semi-finals and finals for the first time in their history. A team from the state, Alyuf Salam Rocks played in the final as far back as 1976, when they lost 2-0 to Enugu Rangers.
