The Senator representing Kwara North at the National Assembly, Senator Sulaiman Sadiq Umar will be among the dignitaries that will cheer Kwara United Football Club from the stands, as they take on Rangers International of Enugu in the semi-final of the 2025 President Federation Cup competition tomorrow in Lagos.
The semi-final matches of the Men’s version of the President Federation Cup competition will take place tomorrow Wednesday May 21, 2015, in Lagos and Abuja, with former champions, Rangers up against Kwara United of Ilorin, while emerging power Ikorodu City take on surprise packets Abakaliki FC in Abuja.
The clash between the two Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Kwara United and Rangers will come up at the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Lagos, beginning from 4.00pm.
Senator Umar, who commended Kwara Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for prioritising support for sports, and for Kwara United equally urged Kwarans, both home and abroad, to rally round the team as they prepare to make history.
It would be recalled Senator Umar has on several ocassions, supported Kwara United Football Club. That was.among other motivations to complement the efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, for sports development.
Kwara United advanced to the semi-finals of the President Federation Cup for the first time in the club’s history after defeating Akwa United FC 5–3 on penalties, following a 2–2 draw in a thrilling quarter-final encounter held in Enugu.
The Senator reiterated his call on the players and coaches to seize the opportunity to etch their names in the annals of Kwara State sports history by becoming the team that brings home the Federation Cup.
