Super Eagles Supporters Club gets support in Kwara ahead of inauguration of state chapter

The Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa has assured the Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC) of maximum support in the state, even as he called for the harmonization of all Supporters group in the country, observing that they are all being driven by the passion for the round leather game.

Mallam Idris, who is fondly called ‘Thuraya’ also, charged the body to use the avenue to promote the unity of Nigeria through the game, irrespective of religious and ethnic affiliations.

The Chairman, while addressing the President of the body, Vincent Okumagba and his team, who are in the state for the inauguration of the state body, charged the national body to support the state Executives to extend membership of the group to all the nooks and crannies of the state, to ensure adequate representation across board.

Thuraya, at a press briefing today at the Kwara Football House said that the Supporters, whom he classified as the 12th player in football, plays critical role in the development of the game.

Earlier in his address, the President, Vincent Okumagba said that the body was established primarily to galvanize fans and support for the Super Eagles and other national teams, adding that the group has broken new grounds since its introduction.

According to him, the body had organized Award, been the first in the history of supporter-ship, introduced Magazine, and is recognized by the world football governing body, FIFA, as one of the members of the group has also been invited for the World Cup draw later in the year.

Okumagba said that the group, registered in 2017, now has over 30,000 members nationwide, in 24 chapters, pointing out that funding has been the major problem of the association.

While commending the efforts invested ahead of the inauguration of the Kwara chapter, Okumagba described the state as sports loving, pledging that opportunities will be given to Kwarans to be in Qatar for the World Cup if Nigeria qualifies.

The President used the occasion to present the Kwara FA Chairman, Mallam Idris with an award. He also presented the Chairman and the Chairman of Kwara United FC, Kumbi Titiloye with the association’s souvenir.

Meanwhile, the Kwara state chapter of the Super Eagles Supporters Club (SESC) will be inaugurated tomorrow Friday March 11, 2022, at the Conference Room of the Kwara State Sports Commission.

Engr. Olubunmi Komolafe (Dickalo) will be inaugurated as the pioneer Chairman of Super Eagles Supporters Club (Kwara Chapter).

Others that will be inaugurated are Alhaja Segilola Alaya (1st Vice Chairman), Alhaji Babatunde Afase Soliu (2nd Vice Chairman) Abdul Momoh (Liason Officer), Olatunbosun Abayomi (Secretary), Shafi Lekan Mumeen (PRO), Arch Bashir A. Yunus (Treasurer), Afusat Abiodun Busari (Financial Secretary), Obaro Oseni Kenny (Internal Auditor), Ajetunmobi Ahmed (Welfare Officer), Bashir Hameed ‘Aranbanbi’ (Social Officer I), Martha Uche (Social Officer II) Ayodeji Ismail (Media Officer) and Taiye Bello (Chief Whip).

Also to serve as Council of Elders are the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Mogaji, the SA Sports, Mallam Attairu Ibrahim, Alhaji Owolabi Wopa Agbaji, AbdulQuadri Bilikis, Dr (Mrs) khadijat Musah, Coach Tunde Yahaya and Mr Aladesuyi Segun.

The three Advisers are Adullahi Toyin, Abdullahi Umar and Dr (Mrs) T.  Ajadi.
