Two Para Athletes of the Kwara State Sports Commission have been elected as North Central representatives on the Boards of two Para Federations at the elections held in July 5 in Jos, Plateau state.
Adisa Abefe Luqman was elected to represent the North Central Zone on the Board of Nigeria Para Athletes Federation, while Felix Oyadinrin was elected to represent North Central Zone on the Board of Nigeria Para Basketball Federation.
Relishing his experience at the elections in Jos, Luqman described the election as very interesting as his opponent from Plateau state stepped down for him to emerged victorious.
He explained that the overwhelming support he enjoyed at election was due to the support he enjoyed from the Kwara State Sports Commission, and the leadership guidance he received from his coach, Kehinde Aiyelabegan.
Lukman said he will use his new position to canvass for promotion of Para Athletics from the grassroots to the international level by enhancing organization of Para Athletes competitions in the various geo-political zones across the country.
Also, Felix Oyadinrin pledged to work hard to justify the confidence reposed on him by the athletes.
According to him, “among my plans as a zonal representative is to promote Para Athletes Sports in order to eradicate street begging among persons living with disabilities.
