Nigerian forward, Wasiu Alalade, has taken his blossoming football career beyond the country’s shores with a new move to Interclube of Angola, marking another chapter in his inspiring football journey that began on the streets of Ilorin.
The former Kwara United FC attacker, who has built a reputation as one of the most enterprising forwards in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), completed his transfer to the Angolan top-flight side after an impressive stint that saw him emerge as one of Kwara United’s most consistent performers in recent seasons.
Alalade’s move to Interclube, a club with a rich history in the Girabola (Angolan Premier League), was greeted with excitement from fans who have followed his steady rise through Nigeria’s domestic football circuit.
His ability to combine pace, technique, and tactical discipline made him a key asset for every team he has represented, from ABS FC, Ilorin, to Enyimba International, Shooting Stars, Lobi Stars, Akwa United, Gombe United and Kwara United, a club he played for thrice, where he regained his form and leadership qualities.

Wasiu wasted no time announcing his arrival in Angola. In his debut match for Interclube, the versatile forward showed flashes of his trademark attacking flair, helping his side to a hard-fought 1–1 draw away from home.
His energetic runs and link-up play earned him the admiration of his new supporters, with pundits tipping him to become one of the standout foreign imports in the Girabola this season.
Speaking after the match, Alalade expressed his delight and determination to make the most of the opportunity.
“It’s a new challenge, a new environment, but football is a universal language,” he said. “I came here to help the team achieve success and to continue improving myself as a player.”
Before his foreign adventure, Alalade’s name had already become a familiar one in Nigerian football circles. He was part of the Enyimba International squad that competed on the continent, featuring in CAF competitions and learning under some of the best coaches in the NPFL.
However, it was at Kwara United that he rediscovered his spark. Returning to his home state club, Alalade became a fan favourite, often leading the attack with commitment and flair. His performances not only helped the team maintain top-flight stability but also earned him plaudits for his professionalism and maturity.

Known for his humility and hardworking nature, Alalade’s journey from the Nigerian league to the Angolan stage is a testament to his resilience and continuous pursuit of excellence.
As he settles into life in Luanda, Alalade remains focused on contributing to Interclube’s ambitions both domestically and in continental competitions. His move also underscores the growing recognition of Nigerian talents across Africa, where players continue to make an impact beyond the NPFL.
For Wasiu Alalade, a former U20 and U23 striker, the move is not just a career transition, it’s the beginning of a new adventure, one that promises to elevate his profile and inspire young Nigerian footballers who dream of making their mark on the African scene.
