The 21st edition of Chief of the Naval Staff U-14 Boys and 13th edition Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA) U-17 Girls Soccer Tournament kicks off in Kaduna, at the Main-Bowl of Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Sunday 18 May 2025.
Youth teams from all the 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will participate in the premier cup competition which is on the calendar of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON).
The competition was burn out of a well designed partnership between the youth sports development body and the Nigeria Navy, and it’s also about the promotion of unity and togetherness among Nigerian youth, as well as the promotion of football.
The President of YSFON, His Excellency, Dr. Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna and the National Secretary, Patrick Okpavuerhe charged the states to participate fairly, in promotion of the game of football, and celebration of excellence.
Among the dignitaries expected to grace the opening ceremony are the President, Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA), as the Special Guest of Honour.
Others are Hon. Commissioner of Sports Development, Kaduna State, Professor Benjamin Kummai Gugong, Commander, Police College Kaduna, and Engineer Musa Nimrod, President, the Nigeria Volleyball Federation and the Grand Patron, Kaduna State YSFON.
Also expected are Alhaji Faisal Abdullahi, Chairman, Kaduna State Football Association, and the Zonal Coordinator (Zone 6) National Sports Commission, among other important dignitaries.
Adoration Football Academy of Enugu are the defending champions of the CNS U-14 Boys, while Imo Girls FC are the defending champions of the NOWA Cup.
Participating teams for this year’s tournament are expected to arrive at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna or Police College Kaduna on Friday 16 May 2025.
The closing ceremony of the tournament is scheduled for Saturday 24 May 2025 at the Police College Kaduna Sports Complex.
