Team Kwara has booked their spot in the quarter-finals of the ongoing YSFON/CNS U14 Boys National Championship after a dominant 3-0 victory over Team Oyo.
The Kwara boys displayed class and composure in the one-sided encounter, putting three past their opponents to make it two wins from two games in the group stage.
Their qualification was confirmed after Bayelsa edged Nassarawa 2-1 in the other group fixture, making it mathematically impossible for Kwara to be displaced at the top of the table — with a game to spare.
The team will now look to finish strong in their final group match, aiming to maintain momentum as they prepare for the quarter-finals.
Kwara team, represented by Kwara Football Academy is aiming to win the trophy for the second time having achieved the feat in 2022 on home soil. Kwara is known for excellence in grassroots football.
Youth teams from across the nation are participating in the premier cup competition which is on the calendar of the Youth Sports Federation of Nigeria (YSFON).
The competition was burned out of a well designed partnership between the Youth sports federation of Nigeria and the Nigeria Navy, and it’s tailored for the development and unity of Nigerian Youth .
The closing ceremony is billed for Saturday 24th May, 2025.
