2023 FIBA Women’s Afrobasket: Hon Lookman congratulates D’ Tigress for victory

The former Special Assistant on Poverty Alleviation, Kwara Central, to Governor of Kwara State, Hon. Comrade Lookman Olukayode Ahmed has congratulated the Nigeria National Women’s Basketball Team, D’Tigress for winning the 2023 FIBA Women’s Basketball trophy by thrilling their opponent, Senegal  84-74 in the final at BK Arena in Kigali, Rwanda.

Hon. Comrade Lookman Olukayode Ahmed describes the D’Tigress as the most valuable team in Africa, considering their performance in the tournament.

According to him, “they are only the second team after Senegal to win four consecutive titles on Saturday.

Hon. Comrade Lookman gave kudos to D’Tigress, saying, “After waiting for 12 solid years with no title to show for their efforts, they ended the draught as they were crowned champions in 2017and followed up with victories in 2019, 202, and 2023”.

The former Special Aide, while commending the efforts of the Coach, Rena Wakama a female Coach to ever win Afrobasket title, the crew and the basketball team for their efforts and commitment from the beginning of the tournament to the end.

Hon. Lookman appealed to the Federal and States Ministries of Youths Sports and Development to invest more in sports activities.

He also charged the National Women’s Basketball Team D’Tigress to be focused on future competitions ahead of them, and should not relent their efforts.
