The CEO of Sportspro and renowned Sportscaster, Bayour Issah in nostalgic acknowledged the commentator as his role model.

He noted that Okonkwo’s mastery of language and its extraordinary usage in football commentary was one of the best things that has ever happened to football and is presently being missed.
Recalling some of his quotes, Bayour Issah said : “Yisa Sofoluwe is small, tiny but he is a wire”.
“The green white green flag is up, Nigeria flag is flying, the greatest country on top” he reminiscenced.
Okonkwo, a sports presenter with Radio Nigeria was popular for his unique style commentary of football matches.
Okonkwo, who died on August 7th, 1990 is renowned for crafting many Nigerian players humour-like names in consonance with their style of playing, which often times normally galvanize them into their best to deliver a top notch performance.
