5th Kwara SWAN Media Games begins tomorrow

The 5th edition of the Kwara Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) organized Media Games begins today, with journalists and media workers from 12 Chapels jostling for honours in 11 events, at the Kwara State Stadium Complex, Ilorin.

The events are football, volleyball, badminton, tennis, table tennis, dart, draft, chess, scrabble, ayo and walk race.

The Games opens by 11.00am, with health talk, which centres on ‘Importance of exercise and stress management’, at the Conference Room of the Kwara State Sports Commission. The lecture will be delivered by Pharmacist Amid Lanre Alege FPSN, of the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital.

Expected to grace the opening ceremony are the General Managers and Heads of the Media Houses, stakeholders, who include sponsors and partners, members of the Main Organising Committee, led by Mallam Bola Mogaji, journalists and media workers and others.

The football event of the Games begins by 4.00pm same day, at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex.

The Chairman of the Technical Committee for the Games, Mr Wale Obalola urged members to compete fairly, and comply with the rules of the Games, as all the rules will be adhered to accordingly.

The competing Chapels are Radio Kwara, who are the defending champions, The Herald Newspapers, Kwara State Television Authority, State Information, Federal Information, National Orientation Agency (NOA), Sobi FM, National Pilot Newspapers, Unilorin FM, Harmony FM, Correspondents’ Chapel and NTA, Ilorin.

The final ceremony has been scheduled for Saturday October 9th, 2021
