*30 selected players to be unveiled Thursday
Abubakar Bukola Saraki Football Club lights up Offa, Offa Local Government Area of kwara state as the final round of selections for the club’s Players Talent Hunt and Development Programme takes centre stage.
It’s the assemblage, re-assessment and final selection process for picking the 30 players for the PTDP programme, the U-19 N-Youth League Cup and the ABS FC Nigeria National League (NNL) team.
The PTDP initiative was aimed at discovering players ready for transfer to the European markets. The programme is a collaborative effort with ABS FC’s international partners,
At the opening ceremony held at the Zeems Sports Arena today, SundayAugust 25, 2024, in Offa, the Director of Football, Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka said that the process was done on merit, to give credibility to the whole exercise.
He said.that the final 30 for the PTDP project will go into camping after being unveiled on Thursday, in Ilorin.
Chief Chukwuemeka added that Offa was chosen to allow for maximum concentration, even as he.called for support for successful completion of the project.
The nationwide selection process began a month ago in North West, (Kaduna), and went through North East (Bauchi), South South (Calabar), south East (Owerri) and South West (Ado-Ekiti) and ended in North Central (Ilorin), after which over 100 talents were discovered.
The process towards picking the final 30 continues at the Oloffa Stadium, Offa tomorrow.
The Head Coach for the project, Coach Yusuf Salihu, while addressing the players, charged them on discipline, dedication and professionalism, even as he added that various criteria were considered in Zonal and final selection exercise.
The PTDP initiative is expected to boost the country’s football development and increase the number of Nigerian players competing at the highest level globally.
Shogo Shodunnke, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Phreestyle Sport is the Consultant for the project.
