Aisha Buhari Cup: Hajia Alaya commends First Lady, Falode

The Chairperson of the Women Football Development Committee of the Kwara State Football Association, Hajia Segilola Alaya has applauded the initiative behind the introduction of the forthcoming Aisha Buhari Cup female soccer competition, describing it as additional platform for women empowerment in sports.

The Vice Chairperson of Female Football Interest Group (FFIG) in Kwara state also commended the Local Organizing Committee of the 6-team African Women Championship scheduled to hold between 13th to 21st September, 2021 in Lagos.

She praised the efforts of the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), led by the First Vice President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Barrister Seyi Akinwunmi and Aisha Falode (Director of Organization) towards staging a befitting championship.

Hajia Alaya said that Aisha Falode introduced great innovations to female football in the country through the league, and the great turned around in fortune has given birth to the new found platform, the Aisha Buhari Cup.

The Dr Aisha Buhari Invitational Women’s Football Tournament, otherwise known as Aisha Buhari Cup, is an African Mini-Football tournament for six women National teams namely, Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, South-Africa, Morocco and Mali.

The member of the Kwara State Football Association board equally commended the Nigeria First Lady, Her Excellency Dr Aishat Buhari for supporting the initiative, and especially what she is doing with the Future Assured Programme, which is all about the girl-child and her health as well as economic empowerment and educational enhancement.
