Amb. Prof. Olufolake AbdulRasak adds extra motivation, as Kwara United Queens reach First Lady Championship final

Kwara United Queens have booked their place in the final of the ongoing Kwara First Lady Pre-Season Championship, following a convincing 4-1 victory over FUOYE Dazzlers.

The thrilling semi-final encounter, played at the KFA Golden Pitch, George Innih Stadium Complex, Ilorin, showcased grit, passion, and high intensity from both sides. However, the hosts proved more clinical in front of goal.

The courageous Queens started brightly, dictating the tempo and dominating possession in midfield.

Their early dominance paid off in the 7th minute when Kafayat Kareem calmly finished to give Kwara United Queens the lead heading into the break.

The Ilorin-based side resumed the second half with renewed intensity and doubled their advantage just two minutes after the restart, through Jolade Ruth, who put the team firmly in control.

Moments after the goal, the presence of the Kwara State First Lady, Amb. Prof. Mrs. Olufolake AbdulRazaq added extra motivation as the team continued to push forward with confidence.

Ten minutes later, Modupe Owoosho extended the lead to 3-0 before the hour mark, putting the game beyond immediate reach for the visitors.

FUOYE Dazzlers responded with a well-taken free-kick to reduce the deficit, sparking brief hopes of a comeback.

The Ekiti-based side pressed forward and created chances but were unable to capitalize, including a missed opportunity from another free-kick that sailed over the crossbar.

Kwara United Queens however, remained resolute at the back and sealed the victory late in the game when substitute Amarachi Nnorom netted the fourth goal to extinguish any hopes of a comeback.

The emphatic win sends Coach Anthony’s side into the final, where they will face Jagunmolu Queens, who defeated Wazbak Queens 5-4 on penalties after the game ended 1-1 in regulation time.

The final is scheduled to take place tomorrow Friday April 17, 2026, at the KFA Pitch, George Agbazika Innih Stadium, Ilorin, with kickoff set for 2:30 pm.
