The Kwara State Football Association has announced the indefinite suspension of Ahmed Alabi Árábàmbi, following what it described as unacceptable conduct during an official engagement during the semi-final matches of the ongoing First Lady Pre-Season Championship.

The decision was taken after the Chairman of the FA, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa Thuraya, openly frowned at Árábàmbi’s attitude during the visit of the First Lady of Kwara State, Ambassador Mrs. Olufolake AbdulRazaq to the match venue today, Thursday April 16, 2026.

The incident occurred at the Kwara Football Academy, during the semi-final matches of the ongoing First Lady Pre-Season Women Football Championship, an event designed to promote women’s football and grassroots development across the state.

It was revealed that Árábàmbi breached established matchday protocols, particularly those guiding activities within the technical area, prompting immediate concern from the FA leadership, attacking another Mascot during the process.

Reacting swiftly, Mallam Thuraya reiterated the association’s zero-tolerance stance on indiscipline, stressing that respect for laid-down regulations, especially within technical zones, is non-negotiable.

“This association will not condone any act that brings the game into disrepute or undermines constituted authority, regardless of who is involved,” the Chairman stated.

He further emphasized that the presence of the First Lady at the event underscored the importance of maintaining professionalism and decorum at all times, noting that such occasions reflect the image of football administration in the state.

The FA, in its statement, called on players, coaches, and officials to strictly adhere to technical area regulations during matches, warning that sanctions would be applied to anyone found violating the rules.

The suspension of Árábàmbi, according to the FA, will remain in effect pending further review, as the association continues its commitment to discipline, order, and the growth of football in Kwara State.
