The Founder and President of Double T Baseball and Softball, Ambassador Temitayo Femi Abolarin has questioned his suspension from the Kwara State Baseball and Softball Association, describing the suspension as illegal and unconstitutional
The former Kwara player also questioned the decision of the Kwara State Baseball and Softball Association, an affiliate of Kwara State Sports Commission to write all his partners in the USA and other parts of the world, appealing for direct collaboration with the State.
A letter dated December 21, 2022, and signed by Hon. Raphael Adetiba and Oloyin Bolaji Lateef, Chairman and Secretary of Kwara State Baseball and Softball Association respectively, stated that “The Association wish to convey to you your suspension from all activities involving baseball and softball in Kwara state and Nigeria”
“This is because you have on several occasion denounced having any private or official relationship nor respect/recognition for the Nigeria Baseball and Softball Association (NBSA) and or Kwara State Baseball and Softball Association , which led to your person been walked out of a recent meeting held at the Board Room of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Ilorin”. The letter read in part.
“Take note that you also recently tweeted in the Social Media, accusing Her Excellency, Ambassador (Mrs) Olufolake AbdulRazaq, wife of the Executive Governor of Kwara State of negligence, for not making an impact for Team Kwara participation in the baseball event of the recently concluded National Sports Festival in Delta state, and that she should resign her position as the 2nd Vice President of the NBSA”
In his response, Ambassador Abolarin, who is the African Director/European Commissioner for International Sports Association, California USA said that his suspension was illegal and unconstitutional, adding that it’s a conspiracy and gang up to frustrate and by extension, stop the 2nd edition of Barrister Toyin Ojora Saraki International Baseball and Softball competition.
“Her Excellency, Barrister Toyin Ojora Saraki in her magnanimity released the sum of 8million naira for clearing of equipment and to organise a tournament.
According to him, “This act of cowardice, bitterness, hatred, jealousy, envy and coordinated attack from the member of the Kwara state baseball and association and their cohort is treacherous.
He pointed out that it’s also funny to see a letter addressed to him started circulating on 23rd December, 2022 through several WhatsApp platforms.
“It is clear to me now that all parties involved are intimidated by my achievements and the progress we are making as a club. I have invested well over 29 years in this game thereby facilitating both local, national and international clinics, tournaments, educational talks and a host of other baseball activities.
“I am making efforts for the development of the twin game. I am working so hard to bring development to the state and country. My suspension is unconstitutional and illegal”, he added.
