Victor Osimhen can be the next Didier Drogba, according to his former coach Emmnauel Amunike, reports Completesports.com.
Osimhen enjoyed a superb debut campaign in France and is close to linking up with Serie A club Napoli.
The Nigeria international scored 18 goals and provided six assists in 38 appearances across all competitions for Lille.
Drogba, who won multiple titles with Chelsea was one of the most feared strikers in the world during his active days.
Amunike, who tutored Osimhen during the young striker’s time with the Nigeria U-17 side, the Golden Eaglets believes has similar quality with Drogba and can even surpass the Ivorian’s achievements.
“Victor is still young, he still has a long way to reach Didier’s level. But in my opinion, one day he can also become stronger than him. Maybe in Serie A,” Amunike told TMW.
Osimhen linked up with Bundesliga club VFL Wolfsburg from Ultimate Strikers Academy in 2017.
The 21-year-old struggled in the German top-flight before being sent on loan to Belgium with Sporting Charleroi, who opted to sign him on a permanent deal.
He scored 20 goals in 36 games for Charleroi in the 2018/19 season before linking up with Lille last summer.
