Association of Football Legends floats Cooperative Society, gets Founder’s support

The Association of Football Legends has intensified preparations for the establishment of its Cooperative Society, in a strategic move aimed at improving the economic wellbeing, effectiveness and efficiency of its members.

The proposed Association of Football Legends Cooperative Society is being positioned as another significant milestone in the evolution of the association, coming on the heels of its registration with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).

The initiative reflects the Legends’ broader objective of creating sustainable platforms through which members and associates can derive greater commercial and economic value from their collective strength, experience and networks.

The idea of establishing the Cooperative Society was initiated by one of the association’s members, Engr. Sulaiman Busari, and has received widespread acceptance among members.

Busari formally briefed the Founder of the Association, Titiloye Clement Olakumbi, on the progress of the initiative at the association’s weekly meeting held on Saturday, September 27, 2026.

During the briefing, Busari provided updates on the steps already taken towards the registration of the Cooperative Society, as well as other major activities being planned by the association.

He also briefed the Founder on preparations for the forthcoming Founders’ Day celebration and the association’s End-of-the-Year celebrations, among other issues concerning the growth and development of the Legends.

Responding to the presentation, Olakumbi reaffirmed his commitment to the continued growth and development of the Association of Football Legends.

The Founder expressed his readiness to continue supporting initiatives capable of strengthening the association and improving the welfare and economic prospects of its members.

As part of his commitment to the Cooperative Society initiative, Olakumbi pledged N1 million in support of the project.

The pledge was seen as a significant boost to the initiative, particularly as the Legends move towards completing the necessary processes for the establishment of the Cooperative Society.

The development further demonstrates the association’s determination to move beyond its traditional identity as a gathering of former football players and personalities, towards building an organised platform capable of creating lasting social and economic opportunities for its members.

With the proposed Cooperative Society, the Association of Football Legends is expected to provide members with a structured avenue for collective economic participation, mutual support and investment, while strengthening the bonds that have continued to unite the football family.

The initiative, therefore, represents another chapter in the evolution of the Association of Football Legends, following its formal registration with the CAC and its continuing efforts to establish a sustainable institutional framework for the benefit of present and future members.
