Barrister Salihu Bamidele Aluko has charged Kwara United Football Club to strive hard to make the state proud in the final of this year’s Federation Cup competition.

Kwara United, against all odds, qualified for the final of this year’s Premier Cup competition final after beating Rangers International by a lone goal in the semi-final, and will square up with Abakaliki FC in the final on Saturday June 28, 2025.

Speaking with sportsbash.com.ng in Ilorin yesterday, Barrister Aluko, who was former Chairman of the Club and former Board Chairman of the defunct Kwara State Sports Council said that winning the trophy is a great honour for the Governor, and the state in general.

“I will want to salute the courage of the players and officials of the Club. They have done well, but they have to go further to win it, to justify the full success of the journey.

“I will also want to commend our sports loving Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for raising the bar in sports development in the state, in infrastructural growth and participation.

“Winning the trophy on Saturday will be a huge prize for the Governor’s sacrifice for the investment in sports. And that was why I am charging them to finish the job on Saturday.

“I will also want to appeal to well meaning Kwarans, philanthropists, sports lovers with means, Local Government Councils and parastatals to compliment the efforts of His Excellency, by mobilising en mass, to cheer our darling team to victory.

Barrister Aluko, who is a former Board member of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) and Patron of Kwara SWAN equally commended the management of the team, especially for reaching this stage for the first time in the history of the competition.

He also commended the Kwara State Sports Commission, the State FA and football stakeholder in the state for the achievement of the team and football generally in the state.
