CAFCC: Kwara United unlucky against Asante Kotoko – El-Lado

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of El-Lado Transport Services, Mallam Mohammed Olatunji has said that Kwara United were unlucky against Asante Kotoko in the return leg of CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round.

Kwara United lost to the Ghanian side by a lone goal at the MKO Abiola International Stadium, Abeokuta on Sunday with Hubert Gyau scoring in the 53rd minute to complete the double victory for Porcupine Warriors.

The defeat eliminated Harmony Boys 5-3 on aggregate, after they had suffered 4-3 defeat in the first leg in Ghana.

El-Lado, while speaking with newsmen immediately after the encounter, expressed mixed feelings, noting that the match went against Kwara United.

“It’s not been a very good result. Kwara United did all they could, but we are unlucky, the match went against us” he said.

He reiterated that the team’s inability to convert their chances contributed immensely to the defeat despite dominating the game.

He enjoined the team to remain optimistic as he urged them to regroup and focus on the task ahead in the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL)

In the same vein, some football enthusiasts highlighted that Kwara United were not a bad side, noting that the team can still redeem their image to snatch another continental ticket.

They also urged the team to leave the results behind them and shift focus on improving their performance in the NPFL.

They appealed to all the teaming fans, supporters and critical stakeholders to rally behind the team.

Kwara United will now turn their attention to the league, with a rescheduled NPFL matchday 5 encounter against Plateau United on Thursday, followed by another fixture against Abia Warriors on Sunday, both at the Rashidi Yekini Main Bowl, George Agbazika Innih Stadium, Ilorin.
