Nigerian tactician, Coach Aliyu Zubair has been officially unveiled as the Technical Adviser of Sudanese giants, Al Ahly Wad Madani, marking the beginning of a new chapter in his increasingly impressive coaching career.
The unveiling ceremony took place in Kigali, Rwanda, where the Sudanese club is currently holding its preparations ahead of its CAF Confederation Cup campaign.
Zubair, who recently signed a two-year contract with Al Ahly Wad Madani, takes charge of the club following his departure from Egyptian second-tier side Telecom SC, where he enjoyed a productive spell before mutually agreeing to part ways with the club.
The Nigerian coach arrives at Al Ahly Wad Madani with a clear mandate to strengthen the team and guide the club through both domestic and continental competitions. His immediate challenge will be the CAF Confederation Cup, with Al Ahly set to face Kenyan side Tusker in the first preliminary round.
Speaking during his unveiling on Friday, Zubair expressed his delight at taking charge of the historic Sudanese club and acknowledged the magnitude of the task ahead.
“Al Ahly Madani is another huge challenge for me. It is a great club with rich history and high ambitions,” Zubair said.
“I am looking forward to working with the players, the management and the fans to achieve our objectives, especially as the team prepare to compete in the CAF Confederation Cup.”
The appointment further underlines the rapid growth of Zubair’s coaching career, having worked across different football environments and continued to establish himself as one of Nigeria’s emerging coaches with international experience.
His arrival also comes at an important period for Al Ahly Wad Madani, with the club seeking to make a strong impression on the continental stage while also competing for honours domestically.
With the technical team now led by the Nigerian tactician, attention will turn to the club’s final preparations in Kigali before the CAF Confederation Cup campaign gets underway.
