A football technology platform, globalscoutme, designed to connect footballers with scouts, agencies, and clubs around the world, has been launched in Ilorin, the capital city of Kwara State.
The App, midwifed by Romanian FIFA football Agent, Cristian Hossu, was launched at the Ilorin Innovation Hub on Thursday, drawing footballers, club administrators, and technology enthusiasts.
Speaking at the event, which also featured a demonstration of the App’s features, the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GlobalScoutMe, Cristian Hossu, said the application was created to bridge the gap between football talents, especially in Africa with global opportunities.
The widely travelled football Agent noted that Africa is blessed with abundant football talent, but lack of visibility has remained a major hindrance to players’ growth and breakthrough.
According to Hossu, the creation of the App was inspired by his intimate experience and the challenges associated with scouting talents.
“GlobalScoutMe is a Tech App designed for players around the world to save them from spending money on trials,” Hossa stated.
He explained that the app offers 99.7 per cent accuracy in player profiling, giving scouts and clubs a holistic assessment of talents.
He added: “This platform is one of the most revolutionary Tech Apps for players. I have spent more than 12 years in the scouting profession and have seen how difficult it can be for African players. That is why I came up with this app to help them.”
Hossu further revealed that the platform boasts a database of over 6,000 clubs worldwide and more than 1,200 football agencies that can engage players directly.
“Players can speak to clubs or Agents directly on the App. They do not need to pay commissions to anybody because it is a direct connection with the clubs,” he said.
The FIFA-certified Agent also stressed that the platform provides performance insights to registered players and helps them improve their game. He also allayed fears that clubs and academies could be shortchanged by the app.
According to Hossu, using the App requires players to create an account, upload their videos and personal information, and subscribe for €10 per month to enjoy its unique services.
The launch of the App serves as a prelude to the globalscoutme mega scouting tournament taking place in Ilorin from June 26 to 30th of the same month. It will feature 32 teams and hundreds of players.
Chairman of Abraysports FC, Abdullahi Yusuf, who facilitated the programme’s introduction to Kwara State, noted that the scouting tournament would offer unique opportunities for talented players to showcase their abilities and attract the attention of scouts.
He added that the initiative would redefine the football ecosystem in the state and called on stakeholders to support the project.
In their seperate remarks, the Chairman of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria(SWAN) Kwara State Chapter, Mallam Ayodeji Ismail and Former Director of Sports in the State, Coach Tunde Kazeem commended the organisers of the programme and urged all the participants to be disciplined and focused through the course of the tournament.
Corroborating their remarks, Brain behind Amapro chamapionship, Shogo Shodunke urged clubs and players to embrace and leverage technology in order to take their career to the next level.
Speaking on behalf of the clubs, Oladipo Oyebanji of Barrier SC and Jejelola Reuben Adegbola of Crystal Maze FC described the programme as first of its kind and a veritable platform for talent’s promotion.
The duo of Monday John of House of Prayer FA and Emmanuel Jacob of Gnosis Stallions FC who spoke on behalf of players at the event also thanked the organisers of the programme for the oppurtunity and promised to maximise it.
