*Says victories, result of doggedness and commitment
Kwara State Football Association has praised the footballing successes recorded in youth football in both Kaduna and Ogun State, describing the victories as a celebration of dedication and sacrifice.
Kwara team, represented by Kwara Football Academy on Saturday defeated their Enugu state counterparts to win the 2025 Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS) U-14 Boys trophy for the second time, having achieved the feat in 2022 on home soil.
The YSFON organized competitions, now at the 21st edition for the Chief of the Naval Staff U-14 Boys and 13th edition for the Naval Officers’ Wives Association (NOWA) U-17 Girls Football competitions held in Kaduna State.
And yesterday, Kwara State football team for the ongoing 22nd National Sports Festival, tagged Gateway Games 2024 won silver, which happens to be the very first football medal for the state since the introduction of the multi-sports Games in 1973, in football.
While celebrating the feats, the Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa said that the victories affirmed the fact that the state is known for excellence in grassroots football.
Accoording to Mallam Idris, popularly known as Thuraya, “our investments and commitment in grassroots football is yielding positive results, and we must not but commend the various stakeholders who are involved in all these.
“We thank the Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for providing us the wherewithal to strive, and the State Sports Commission for giving our football team the opportunity to appear on National stage, after some years out.
“Winning the silver, which I will describe as golden silver has vindicated our commitment towards having a healthy youth football development system in the state, and we will continue to do so in line with the laid down rules and regulations.
“I congratulate the KFA team for winning the Chief of Naval Staff U14 Boys trophy, and the National Sports Festival team for doing us proud, against all odds, in Abeokuta, winning the very first football medal for the state.
