Kwara State Football Association has again, reiterated its resolve to adhere strictly with the Statutes, Electoral Code and the Electoral Guidelines in conducting the Kwara Football Council Elections, as directed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).

The Chairman of the FA, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa made the clarification while inaugurating the appointed Interim Chairmen of the four Local Councils who failed to meet the requirements for the forthcoming Councils elections.

Mallam Idris said that the resolve was instigated by the stakeholders, who are agitating for free and fair elections, and the agreement reached at the Congress.

Mallam Idris said that the Statutes, Electoral Code and Electoral Guidelines were made available to stakeholders before now, as it was also agreed that those who will serve should be those who are in the system, and who knows the rules.

While inaugurating the Interim Chairmen of the four Local Councils, Asa, Ifelodun, Ilorin West and Moro today, Sunday March 12, 2023 at the Football House, Mallam Idris said that the constitution of the Interim body became necessary, to avoid leaving a vacuum.

The newly inaugurated Chairmen have one month to put things in order, by ensuring affiliations are paid up to date, subscription fully paid, Electorates list drawn, Intent Forms by candidates dully signed, and Electoral processes put in place within the 30 days.

Asa Local Football Council has Alhaji Mujeeb Ibrahim as the Chairman of the Interim Committee, while Ifelodun and Ilorin West Local Football Councils have Mr Dauda Bello Hauja and Alhaji AbdulRazaq Adebayo Owolabi Agbaji Wopa as Chairmen respectively.

Mr Sunday Oyetunji is the Chairman of Moro Local Football Council Interim Committee.

The Electoral Committee has directed the Kwara FA to open the Portal for would-be candidates from the affected Local Government Councils to buy Intent Forms.

While reacting on behalf of the Chairmen after the inauguration, the Interim Chairman of Ilorin West, Alhaji AbdulRazaq Adebayo Owolabi Agbaji Wopa commended the Chairman of the FA and the Board for breaking new grounds, and for giving the Interim Chairmen the opportunity to serve.

It would be recalled that this is the first time that elections are being used to determine who serves at the Local Government Football Councils. The previous ones are based on selections.
