Kwara Governor to declare 40th Public Service Games open tomorrow

The 40th edition of the Federation of Public Service Games (FEPSGA) will be declared open by Kwara State Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq tomorrow, Thursday December 2nd, at the Main-Bowl of the State Stadium Complex, Ilorin, beginning from 3.00m.

Confirming the development to journalists today in her office, the State Head of Service, Mrs. Susan Modupe Oluwole said that Governor AbdulRazaq will be joined by the President of the Federation, Comrade Aloku Amaebi and top echelon of the Public Service to declare the event open.

She added that the state government is committed to the staging of a hitch-free Games, as over 10,000 Public Servants are expected to converge at the Stadium for the week-long sporting fiesta.

Mrs. Oluwole applauded the federation for choosing Kwara state for the competition, which she said will encourage fraternity and unity among Public Servants.

Also speaking, Comrade Amaebi commended the state government for accepting to host the Games, describing it as a laudable initiative, adding that it will impact positively on the economy of the state.

Comrade Amaebi disclosed that participants will compete in 15 events, which includes football, handball, volleyball, basketball, tennis, table tennis, badminton, squash, dart, athletics, swimming, scrabble, chess, draft and ayo.

He explained that Kwara state was given the hosting right because of its noticeable peaceful environment and its fore-front role in the promotion of sports.

Comrade Amaebi solicited for the support and backing of Kwarans, to ensure a successful staging of the event.
