21 players, both male and female, from 11 Chapels have been registered to participate in the Kwara state Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) organized and Hon. Ogbeni Seun Oguniyi sponsored Inter-Chapel table tennis tournament, scheduled to hold on Wednesday November 29th and Thursday November 30th, 2023, at the NUJ Press Centre, Ilorin.
The tournament is being sponsored by Hon. Ogbeni Seun Oguniyi (Adato), who is representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly.
Hon. Ogbeni Oguniyi is the Chairman, House Committee on Energy, and the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Education and Human Capital Development.
To compete for honours in the male competition are Babatunde Jimba (Kwara TV), Ibrahim Alege (Correspondents’ Chapel), Jide Allen (Radio Kwara), Ahmed Ajiboye (The Herald), Kale Yakub (NTA), Yusuf Adebisi Ganiyu (State Information), Sodiq Adebara (Harmony FM), Oladimeji Ajibade (National Pilot), Adeseko Kehinde (Federal Information), Baba Ibrahim (National Orientation Agency) and Isaac Lewu (Unilorin FM).
Topping the list of the female contestants are Nusirat Popoola Yekeen (Kwara TV), Mosunmola Ayobami (Correspondents’ Chapel), Itunu Olaosebikan (Radio Kwara), Janet Bogunjoko (The Herald), Basirat Bello (NTA), Bamidele Yetunde (State Information), Opeyemi Stella Olasoji (Harmony FM), Alao Adedoyin (Federal Information), Hajia Bimbo Sulaiman (National Orientation Agency) and Idayat Hassan (Unilorin FM).
The competition begins from 11.00am tomorrow Wednesday November 29th, 2023, and all the participating Chapels have been enjoined to mobilize their players to the venue as at when due, as lateness will not be entertained.
Chairman of Kwara State NUJ, Mallam Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, praised the Lawmaker for sponsoring the tournament, which he said will further foster unity and friendship among working journalists in the state.
Winners will get medals and cash prizes at the end of the tournament.
