Kwara Utd’s Afeez Nosiru makes Eagles squad for friendly ties against Mexico, Ecuador

Kwara United midfielder, Babatunde Afeez Nosiru has expressed happiness for making the 30-man Super Eagles squad for the international friendly games against Mexico and Ecuador scheduled to hold in America.

The NFF yesterday afternoon made available the list of the 30 players who will enter camp, from where 25 will be selected to travel to US. 

Afeez Nosiru has been impressive this season for Kwara United in the NPFL which paved ways for his invitation to the National Team. 

While speaking with sportsbash.com.ng, Afeez Nosiru explained that he will work hard in training so as to make the final 25-man list that will travel for the friendly games. 

“Being invited to the Super Eagles is a dream come true for me and I want to thank my coaches, teammates, management and Kwara fans for their support as I promise to make them proud in the Super Eagles,” Afeez Nosiru stated. 

Afeez Nosiru is one of the eight home–based professional players, including goalkeepers Adewale Adeyinka and Ojo Olorunleke, defender Ibrahim Buhari, forwards Victor Mbaoma and Ishaq Rafiu, who made the list.

Only 25 players will make the final list for the tour, which is preparatory to next month’s 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Sierra Leone in Abuja (9th June) and São Tomé & Príncipe in Marrakech, Morocco (13th June).

The three –time African champions will clash with CONCACAF powerhouse Mexico at the AT & T Stadium in Dallas, State of Texas on Saturday, 28th May, before flying to New Jersey to tackle Ecuador at the Red Bull Arena in Harrison on Thursday, 2nd June.

Meanwhile, Afeez Nosiru and his teammates at Kwara United are currently occupying sixth position on the NPFL table with 40 points and will face Shooting Stars of Ibadan this coming Sunday in Ilorin in NPFL match-day 28 clash.
