A two-day Kwara NUJ Inter-Chapel Table Tennis tournament has been scheduled to hold between Wednesday November 29th and Thursday 30th, 2023, at the Press Centre of Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Ilorin.
The tournament is being sponsored by Hon. Ogbeni Seun Oguniyi (Adato), who is representing Ojomu/Balogun Constituency at the Kwara State House of Assembly.
Hon. Ogbeni Oguniyi is the Chairman, House Committee on Energy, and the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Education and Human Capital Development.
The 12 Chapels affiliated to the State NUJ are expected to participate in the competition, which was introduced to sustain the unity and togetherness among the Chapels.
The Chapels are The Herald, Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), Correspondents’ Chapel, State Information, Kwara TV, Harmony FM, and National Pilot and Sobi FM.
Others are Federal information, Unilorin FM, and Radio Kwara and the NationalOrientation Agency (NOA).
Chairman of Kwara State NUJ, Mallam Abdullateef ‘Lanre Ahmed, while commending the sponsor, Hon. Seun Oguniyi for his support, said that the competition was introduced to keep members physically and mentally fit.
He praised the Lawmaker for sponsoring the tournament, which he said will further foster unity and friendship among working journalists in the state.
The Organising Committee therefore, enjoined the Chapels to submit names of two participants each, one male and one female, for the Singles events.
Winners will get medals and cash prizes at the end of the tournament.
