The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Kwara State Chapter, has congratulated Alhaji Hameed Adio on the occasion of his 71st birthday anniversary, describing him as a towering figure in Nigerian sports administration, broadcasting, and football history.

In a statement jointly signed by the Chairman, Mallam Ismail Ayodeji, and the Assistant Secretary, Sodiq Adebara, the Association noted that Hameed Adio’s illustrious career spans decades of dedicated service as former Kwara State Commissioner for Sports, former Director of Sports, and former General Manager of NTA Abuja, roles in which he distinguished himself with professionalism, vision, and commitment to excellence.

Kwara SWAN also applauded the celebrant’s remarkable sports legacy as Captain of Nigeria’s historic 1980 Moscow Olympics team, whose leadership and discipline contributed significantly to the growth and prestige of Nigerian sports both at national and international levels.

The Association applauded Alhaji Adio for his immense contributions to sports development, youth mentorship, and media administration, noting that his influence continues to inspire athletes, administrators, and sports journalists across generations.

“Alhaji Hameed Adio remains a symbol of leadership, dedication, and service. His enduring legacy in sports administration, broadcasting, and football history stands as a source of pride to Kwara State and Nigeria at large,” the statement read.

Kwara SWAN congratulated the elder statesman on attaining the age of 71 and prayed that Almighty Allah grants him long life, sound health, peace of mind, and continued fulfillment as he enjoys the fruits of his remarkable service to the nation.
