Kwara State Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) will tomorrow, Wednesday November 26, 2025, receive the six personalities from the state the were honoured by the national body last October.
The reception has been scheduled for the Kwara SWAN Secretariat, George Agbazika Innih Stadium Complex, Ilorin, beginning from 4.00pm.
National SWAN) confered a Special Recognition Award on seven administrator in the state, who included the Executive Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, during its Diamond Jubilee celebration held at the MKO Abiola National Stadium, Abuja, on October 31st, 2025.
Others honoured alongside over 1000 personalities who included Veterans, administrators, Executives and friends of the association are Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, the Nwachigoziri 1, a former National Exco member and the longest serving Executive Secretary of the NPFL Club Owners Association of Nigeria, who is currently the Director of Football, Abubakar Bukola Sàràkí Football Club of Ilorin.
Also on the list are the Chairman of Kwara United Football Club, Kumbi Titiloye and the Chairman of Kwara FA, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa, popularity known as Thuraya.
An Olympian and Legend, Hameed Adio, Nottingham Forest star, Taiwo Awoniyi, Veteran Sportscaster, Bayour Issah and Kayode Okunola completes the list of those honoured by National SWAN from Kwara State.
They were honored for their outstanding contributions to sports journalism and administration in Nigeria. The recognition is also in appreciation of their unquantifiable impact on the growth and development of sports writing in Nigeria.
According to the Chairman of Kwara SWAN, Ayodeji Ismail, the reception is to further recognise their contributions to sports development, and to appreciate their support for the sports writing fraternity.
Ayodeji used the opportunity to appreciate national SWAN, led by the Chairman, Isaiah Benjamin, and Kwara sports stakeholders, for their support.
The Special Recognition Awards were presented during the Diamond Jubilee celebration on October 31st, 2025 in Abuja, where other distinguished individuals and stakeholders were also honored for their contributions to sports and journalism.
