Ilorin, the Kwara State capital is set to witness another exciting moment in grassroots football, as Árábà FC announces its Open Trials scheduled to take place at the Basin Football Field.
The trials, expected to attract scores of young footballers from across Kwara State and beyond, are designed to identify raw, determined and disciplined talents who can be groomed into future stars.
The trials, witthe theme: ‘show your skills, sieze your future’ is open to boys aged between 16 to 20 years.
The mission was to select the most outstanding players for trials with European clubs in the 2025/2026 football season. It’s aimed at identifying next generation of stars for direct pathway to major football markets in the world.
The Coordinator of the event, Femi Oki, former international, said the initiative is driven by a deep commitment to talent development and the need to give young athletes a platform that is fair, transparent and full of possibilities.
According to him, Árábà FC is not just searching for gifted footballers, but also young players with the right attitude and hunger to rise in the game.
Speaking ahead of the trials, Oki stressed that the motive is to make the club a strong hub of homegrown talents.
“The Open Trials represent our belief that many of the best players are still hidden in different corners of Ilorin and Nigeria. We want to give every boy with passion and discipline a chance to compete, to be seen, and to earn a place in our football project,” he said.
He added that football development must begin at the grassroots, and Basin field, historically known as a breeding ground for future Stars, remains the perfect venue to begin this journey.
According to Oki, Árábà FC hopes to build a team capable of competing in major domestic competitions in the near future, and that foundation starts with identifying the right players now.
“We are building something that will outlive us. What we need are young players willing to learn, work hard, and stay committed. Anyone who feels ready should come out and give it a shot. At Árábà FC, merit will speak louder than anything else,” he assured.
The trials are expected to feature sessions on technical ability, match intelligence, physical fitness and teamwork, all under the watchful eyes of the club’s coaching crew and scouts.
With growing anticipation, the Árábà FC Open Trials stand poised to inject fresh energy into Ilorin’s football landscape, offering many young players a rare pathway to elevate their careers and step into the competitive world of Nigerian football.
