Kwara Tabloid to honour Dr. Steve Olarinoye, others at 12th Lecture and Awards Ceremony

The management of Kwara Tabloid has announced that distinguished sports administrator, Dr. Steve Olarinoye, will lead the list of eminent personalities to be honoured at its 12th Annual Lecture and Awards ceremony scheduled to hold in Ilorin.

The event is scheduled to hold at Feebies Event Hall, Tanke, Ilorin, on Friday December 19, 2025, beginning from 3.00pm.

The event, which has grown to become one of Kwara’s most respected platforms for recognising excellence in sports, governance, community service and leadership, will bring together top stakeholders from across the state and beyond.

According to the organisers, Dr. Steve Olarinoye, a former Secretary General of the Nigeria Weightlifting Federation and a renowned sports development advocate, is being recognised for his decades of contribution to sports administration, his mentorship of young athletes, and his unwavering commitment to national and international sports growth.

In a letter to Dr. Olarinoye, signed by the Convener, Tunde Bakare, “We wish to bring to your knowledge that you have been selected as an awardees at the forthcoming Kwara Tabloid Public Lecture/Award ceremony”

“The award is in the Builders and Titans category, and is in appreciation of your efforts towards sports development in the nation. We are particularly delighted that you are one of the foremost Titans that propelled sports administration in Nigeria to the Olympian height it attained in days past”, the letter added.

Other recipients include notable figures from media, public service, youth development, private enterprise, and humanitarian work, all selected for their outstanding impact within their various spheres.

The 12th Lecture and Awards ceremony will also feature a keynote lecture by a respected national figure, Professor Wale Sulaiman CON, focusing on leadership, nation-building and the evolving role of the media in modern society.

The event will be Chaired by Senator (Dr) Ibrahim Olóríegbe, with Mrs. Bunmi Babalola expected to be the ChairLady of the ocassion.

Kwara Tabloid stated that the initiative is part of its longstanding mission to celebrate excellence, inspire younger generations, and strengthen the culture of merit within Kwara State.

The event is expected to attract government officials, traditional rulers, sports icons, business leaders, journalists, and members of the public who have continued to support the platform’s vision over the years.
