The Captain of Kwara United Football Club, Afeez Musa Olororo has expressed delight at his successful return to action after six months in the sideline, owing to an ankle injury.
Olororo sustained the ankle injury in Matchday Two of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season against Ikorodu City, at the Main-Bowl of the George Agbazika Innih Stadium Complex, and missed the remaining fixtures of the season.
The versatile right full back returned back to the team before the last two matches of the season to begin light trainings, to complete his recuperating processes, but wasn’t under pressure to return fully.
Olororo was in the starting line up in the first friendly match of the upcoming season today, Tuesday July 15, 2025, against Blimz FC, and showed great signs of total recuperation, in readiness for the 2025/2026 season.
Kwara United continued their build-up to the 2025/2026 NPFL season and the CAF Confederation Cup with a 1-0 victory over Blimz FC in a club friendly match played at the club’s training pitch, with the defender playing a huge part.
AbdulAfeez Ajao netted the lone goal for the Harmony Boys in the keenly contested encounter that saw Coach Tunde Sanni fielding a mixture of old, new and U-19 players, giving the technical crew the opportunity to assess squad depth and fitness levels.
The friendly match highlighted key areas for improvement as the team fine-tunes tactics and strategies ahead of the season’s kickoff.
Speaking after the match, Coach Tunde Sanni urged his players to stay mentally and physically prepared for the challenges ahead. He emphasized the importance of securing home victories in front of their fans, describing it as a non-negotiable target in the upcoming league campaign.
While recalling his days at the sideline, Olororo thanked God for the opportunity to be back in action, pledging to make up for the lost days.
“I thank Almighty Allah for the opportunity to be back playing. I wasn’t under pressure to return. It was when I felt I was fit and better that I came back to the team.
“I really appreciate the management of the team and the coaches for their support and understanding. I appreciate my teammates and the fans and supporters for their support too.
“I want to assure our fans, supporters and lovers of the team that this coming season is going to be good for us.
