*Honours Distinguished Personalities for Outstanding Support
The Kwara United Football Supporters Club has inaugurated a new executive committee with a charge to strengthen support for the club and contribute meaningfully to a successful 2026/2027 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) campaign.
The colourful inauguration and award ceremony, held at the Conference Room of the Kwara Football Academy, brought together football stakeholders, club supporters, sports administrators, community leaders and lovers of the game from across the state.
Representing Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bolakale Adisa Magaji, reaffirmed the commitment of the state government to the development of sports, particularly football and Kwara United Football Club.
Magaji conveyed the Governor’s message, urging the management, players and supporters of the club to remain focused and strive for greater achievements.
According to him, the government has invested significantly in sports infrastructure and football development, and expects all stakeholders to justify such commitment through improved performances and positive representation of the state.
The Governor also commended members of the Supporters Club, both within and outside Nigeria, for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices, noting that their passion has played a vital role in sustaining the fortunes of the Harmony Boys over the years.
He pledged continued support for the supporters’ body and appreciated individuals, corporate organisations and football enthusiasts who have consistently contributed to the growth of the club.
In his remarks, the Chairman of the Kwara State Football Association, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa Thuraya, described the Supporters Club as a critical stakeholder in football development and charged members to remain committed to promoting and protecting the image of Kwara United.
He observed that the recent upgrade of facilities at the Rashidi Yekini Main-Bowl of the George Agbazika Innih Stadium Complex, including the construction of a perimeter fence, would help curb crowd disturbances and improve matchday security.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Kwara United Football Club, Kumbi Titiloye, represented by the club’s General Manager, Bashir Badawiy, acknowledged the immense contributions of the Supporters Club to the progress recorded by the team in recent years.
He assured members of a stronger working relationship aimed at taking the club to greater heights.
The immediate past Chairman of the Supporters Club, Mallam Waheed Saliu Ọ̀bẹ, expressed appreciation to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Mallam Bola Magaji, the Kwara FA leadership and the management of Kwara United for their unwavering support.
Reflecting on his tenure, Ọ̀bẹ highlighted several milestones achieved during his administration, including helping the club secure two continental tickets, maintaining its NPFL status for six consecutive seasons and witnessing the historic triumph of Kwara United in the President Federation Cup.
He also commended notable football stakeholders including Alhaji (Dr.) Ayinla Ahmed Agaka, Pastor F.J. Omotayo, Chief Gbenga Olaifa, Coach Aliyu Zubair, Alhaji Salihu Babatunde Afase, Engr. Femi Sanni Araba, Coach Abdullahi Biffo and Dr. AbdulMalik of Rotamedics Pharmacy for their various contributions to football development.
In his acceptance speech, the newly inaugurated Chairman, Ibrahim Aduamigba Bamidele, thanked Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Mallam Bola Magaji, Kumbi Titiloye, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa Thuraya, the Chairman of the Elders Forum, Mallam Ọba Iyanda Abdulkadir (Emperor), and the outgoing Chairman for their support and confidence.
He pledged to provide purposeful leadership, foster unity among members and mobilise greater support for Kwara United in the forthcoming season.
Delivering a lecture titled “The Role of Supporters in Football Development”, Olympian Mallam Hameed Adio described football as a powerful tool for unity and social cohesion.
He noted that the Supporters Club remains the backbone of the team’s morale and identity, praising members for their sacrifices and unwavering commitment to the success of the club.
“Kwara United Football Supporters Club is an umbrella of support for the club. Members support the team with their blood and flesh, taking enormous risks season after season. I salute your courage and commitment,” Adio stated.
The Supporters Club also honoured distinguished personalities who have contributed immensely to the growth and welfare of the association.
Award recipients included Chief Gbenga Olaifa (Odofin of Aiyedun), Alhaji (Dr.) Ayinla Ahmed Agaka, Engr. Femi Sanni Araba, Pastor F.J. Omotayo, Alhaji (Dr.) Toyin Raji, King Solomon Adeleke (KSA Security), Coach Tunde Sanni, Comrade Samuel Babatunde Kolawole and Mr. Mohammed Mudashir
Speaking on behalf of the Elders Forum, its Chairman, Mallam Ọba Iyanda Abdulkadir (Emperor), commended members for their loyalty and sacrifices, urging the new executive to build on the achievements of their predecessors.
The newly inaugurated Executive Committee members are Ibrahim Aduamigba Bamidele (Chairman), Ibrahim Agbede (Vice Chairman), Bushira Saliu (General Secretary), Alhaji Toyin Orogun (Assistant General Secretary), Alhaji Oba Karara (Treasurer), Maitama B. Yusuf (Financial Secretary), Alhaji Issa Atanda (Organising Secretary I) and Adam Baba (Organising Secretary II).
Others are Isiaka Abdulrasak (Auditor), Alani Amano (Public Relations Officer), Abdulqudus Abdulrauf (Missioner I), Dele Jimba (Missioner II), Tunde AbdulRahman (Chief Whip), Ajao Rahman (Elder I) and Abdulganiyu Akanbi (Elder II).
Among dignitaries who attended the ceremony were former Secretary of Kwara United Football Club, Alhaji Abdulkadir Ajia; the Ajia Opele, Chief Mrs. Abimbola Olaoye; Chief Alloy Chukwuemeka, Kwara United Fans Club members, led by their Chairman, Tajudeen Osoogun, and several other football stakeholders and supporters of the club.
The event ended with renewed optimism that the newly inaugurated leadership would unite members, strengthen the supporters’ structure and play a significant role in Kwara United’s quest for success in the 2026/2027 NPFL season.
