Kwara United optimistic ahead of 3rd ValueJet Pre-season tournament

This year’s Valuejet Pre-season soccer tournament kicks off tomorrow, Wednesday July 24, 2024, with Kwara United pitched against Remo Stars FC in the second match of Day Two in Group B, by 4.00pm.

Kwara United FC had earlier been drawn in Group B, alongside Remo Stars, Ijebu United and Rivers United, while Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) new entrants, Beyond Limits tops Group A, with Al Merrikh, Ikorodu City and Shooting Stars Sports Club.

Kwara United FC last season, ended their campaign in the competition, which is being played at the Remo Stars FC Stadium, Ikenne in the semi-final, losing on penalties to Beyond Limits after playing out a two-all draw at regulation time.

Kwara United will tackle Ijebu United in their second match on July 27th, by 2.00pm, and will play Rivers United by 4pm in their last game on July 28th, to finally determine their final placement in the group.

And ahead of the commencement of the 3rd edition of the Pre-Season tournament tomorrow, Head Coach of Kwara United, Kabir Dogo has expressed the team’s determination to exceed their previous performances in the competition.

Coach Dogo highlighted that the tournament serves as a valuable opportunity to gear up for the upcoming season, evaluate their level of readiness, and identify areas for enhancement.

“Our participation in the Valuejet Cup is geared towards fortifying our squad and solidifying our preparations for the 2024/25 NPFL season, while aiming to compete fiercely,” he stated.

Emphasizing the team’s unwavering commitment to clinching victory for the state, Coach Dogo stated that meticulous approach is being taken in their preparations.

In a warm welcome to Kwara United in Ikenne, Hon Kunle Soname, the Founder of Remo Stars, encouraged the players to establish a reputation for themselves, acknowledging the exceptional platform provided by the club’s management.

“Seize this opportunity to shine. Kwara United has presented you with a platform for excellence, make the most of it, “he averred.

Hon Soname also commended the club for the choice of young players in the team in Ikenne.

Additionally, he announced a generous donation of one million naira to the players in the event of a tournament triumph, in addition to the five million naira prize money for the victorious team.
