Kwara United picks Aiteo Cup ticket, as ABS FC, KFA await Committee’s decision

Kwara United Football Club has won the ticket to flag Kwara’s flag in this year’s Aiteo Cup soccer competition, after winning the semi-final match against La Planet Sport Academia on Wednesday.

Kwara United, which was drawn bye in the first round, defeated House of Prayer FA 3-0 in the quarter-final, and La Planet Sport Academia by a lone goal in the semi-final, to qualify for the final.

ABS FC, also drawn bye in the first round, defeated Young Antlers 3-0 in the quarter-final, and the verdict of the abandoned semi-final match between them and Kwara Football Academy will be made known tomorrow, to determine who finally makes it between the two.

The match was abandoned after a penalty was awarded against KFA, with six matches to go in the crucial encounter.

According to reports from the Kwara FA, the Disciplinary Committee will meet tomorrow to decide who gets the second Aiteo Cup ticket, alongside Kwara United FC.

13 clubs registered for the competition, which is a direct qualifier for the Premier Cup soccer competition in Nigeria, now renamed the Aiteo Cup.

Kwara United FC is the defending champions of the FA Cup.

Also on Wednesday, Abruka Queens defeated Abimbola Queens of Oke-Oyi on penalties, after playing out a goalless draw at regulation time, in the semi-final of the female version of the competition, and will now play Moje Queen in the final.

 

Dates for the final matches will be determined later.
