Kwara Unted’s draw against Plateau United, a temporary setback -Coach Brazil

Kwara United Football Club were forced to a one-all draw on Monday in the Matchday 22 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) encounter decided at the Main-Bowl of the Kwara State Stadium Complex, with Coach Ashifat Sulaiman describing it as a temporary setback in the team’s bid to win the league.

Samad Kadiri scored for Kwara United in the 14th minute, and Plateau United responded just two minutes later, through former Kwara Football Academy product, Wasiu Jimoh, to ensure that points were shared in the crucial match.

According to Coach Sulaiman, popularly known as Brazil, the dropped points are a disadvantage to the club, but there are plenty of rooms to make amends and adjustments in the title race.

“We dropped two points against Plateau Unite, but we will count it as a loss. It’s a great disadvantage, but we are still in the race. The league is a marathon, meaning that we have more matches ahead to play.

He admitted that the draw was occasioned by a porous defence occasioned by the absence of Deji Bamidele due to accumulation of yellow cards, and the release of Chris Nwaeze to Akwa United.

“The absence of Deji Bamidele and Chris Nwaeze created a vacuum, especially in the first half. It’s a game of football. We had our chance, we took it, and they had theirs too, and took it. That’s football for you. But we still have the believe that we will make it’, he had said.

And for Coach Fidelis Ilechukwu of Plateau United FC, he said that his side had to throw everything into it because Kwara United is a strong team.

“Kwara United is one of the best teams in Nigeria. They showed class when they played us in Jos. The point we got has a lot to do with us.

“Nigeria league is still open, but I don’t want to talk about winning it for now. Rivers United has a lot of advantages, except if I want to deceive myself. To us, we are not competing with Rivers United, but working hard to be in a better position at the end of the season”, he averred.
