KWSG assures Offa Community on upgrading of Olofa Stadium

Kwaran state government has again assured Offa Community of it’s readiness to renovate and upgrade the Olofa Stadium in Offa, adding that work will soon commence as soon as all paper works are completed.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq gave the assurance today, through the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Mogaji, who received representatives of the community in his office today.

Mallam Mogaj pledged the state government’s commitment to the development of sports through the renovation, construction and upgrading of infrastructure in the state, part of which includes the Olofa Stadium.

He said that the Contractors are ready, and as soon as all budgeting and other paper works are completed, work will commence immediately.

Representatives of Offa Community, led by the Vice President of the Offa Descendants Union (ODU), Alhaji Tajudeen Bello thanked the state Governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for approving the renovation and upgrading of the Stadium, penciled as alternative venue for Grade A matches in the state.

They equally commended the Executive Chairman of the Kwara State Sports Commission, Mallam Bola Mogaji and other stakeholders, for their support, adding that the approval as not a right, but a privilege.

Alhaji Tajudeen described sports as a unifying factor, pointing out that the upgrading of the facility will broaden business opportunities in the community.

He explained that the annual Ijakadi Festival was cancelled because of the proposed upgrading, and that the community is ready to absolutely support the gesture, which he described as rewarding.

On the entourage of the Vice President of ODU are Alhaji Olagunju, Mr. Azeez Omoluabi and others.

Meanwhile, the Vice President of the Cricket Federation of Nigeria, Mr Wale Obalola has pledged to support the development of cricket in Offa, especially through schools.

Mr. Obalola, who is Kwara State Stadium Manager also added that four schools will benefit from the kits and equipment that will soon be distributed towards the development of the sport at the grassroots, by the Federation.

In his response, Omoluabi, who commended Mr Wale Obalola, also praised Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and Mallam Bola Mogaji for their support.
