The Executive Committee of Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has approved the recommendation of its Technical and Development Sub-Committee for the appointment of Coach Aliyu Zubairu as Head Coach of the National U20 Boys, Flying Eagles.
The appointment of Zubairu, who led El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri to win the President Federation Cup at the expense of Abia Warriors FC in Lagos in June, takes immediate effect.
Zubairu’s immediate task is to put together and prepare a team for the WAFU B U20 Championship, scheduled for October/November in Togo, where the zone’s representative will emerge for next year’s Africa U20 Cup of Nations.
The former Kwara United Football Club Chief Coach has worked with Coach Mohhammed Maikaba in Akwa United, and was Head Coach of Gombe United Football Club, from where he joined El-Kanemi Warriors Football Club of Maiduguri.
He led the club from the Nigeria National League (NNL) to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) last season, in one attempt, and also led them to win the President Federation Cup competition.
He succeeds former handler, Coach Issa Ladan Bosso, who has joined Bayelsa United Football Club.
