Massive fans support at the Rashidi Yekini Main-Bowl of the George Agbazika Innih Stadium, Ilorin, left Governor AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq of Kwara State overwhelmed after Matchday 28 of the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL), between home team, Kwara United and Kano Pillars.

Visiting Pillars fell by 2-0, scored in both halves of the game to the home team via Wasiu Alalade through a penalty kick and Wasiu Jimoh through a ballistic volley from outside the visiting club’s vital area.

Kwara United has been racking up impressive stadium show up by fans, what with the home club’s near invincibility at home ground in the Premier League.

Kwara United carried the day despite Kano Pillars being led by talismanic Super Eagles Captain, Ahmed Musa.

“The fans’ support is overwhelming,” said an elated Governor AbdulRazaq, who recently renamed the sports facility where the match was played after the late Nigerian Super Eagles striker, Rashidi Yekini.

Speaking to sports writers in Ilorin, the Governor expressed optimism that the home team hasn’t taken its eyes off the ball to go continental.

“It was a good game despite the fasting.

“We move forward to maintain top performance so that we can go continental.

“If you recall, we campaigned at the Continental level a few years back,” he said.

Earlier, Musa, Super Eagles Captain, expressed admiration for the ongoing sports infrastructure renovations at the George Innih Stadium, commending Governor AbdulRazaq for his works.
