NPFL Youth League: Kwara United departs for Lafia, as Kumbi charges team

Kwara United Football Club U-17 team this morning, Wednesday January 31, 2024, departed for Lafia, Nasarawa state ahead of the screening and commencement of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) Youth League championship.

The youth teams of all the 20 NPFL clubs were drawn into groups of four each, with Kwara United drawn in Group B, alongside Lobi Stars FC of Makurdi, Niger Tornadoes of Minna and Plateau United of Jos, with centre in Lafia.

While bidding the team farewell this morning at the Secretariat of the club, the Chairman, Kumbi Titiloye enjoined them to play by the rules, and be disciplined on and off the pitch, throughout their participation in the competition.

‘It’s a great opportunity for you, and I want you to embrace it with utmost dedication, determination and commitment, as the competition stands as a veritable lauchpad for you to climb higher in your career.

Hostilities will commence on Thursday February 1, 2024, as Kwara United play Lobi Stars in the first match by 8.00am, after screening of the players, while Niger Tornadoes takes on Plateau United in the second match of the day by 10.00am.

On Friday, at the same venue, Lafia Township Stadium, Kwara United will square up against Niger Tornadoes by 8.00am, as Lobi Stars takes the center stage against Plateau United by 10.00am.

The last group matches that will determine which team goes through holds on Saturday February 3, 2024, with Kwara United playing the second match of the day against Plateau United by 10.00am, after Lobi Stars match against Niger Tornadoes.

Group A, which has Doma United, Gombe United, Kano Pillars and Katsina United will play in Kaduna, as teams in Group C, Akwa United, Bayelsa United, Bendel Insurance and Rivers United play in Asaba.

Groups D and E will play in Ekiti and Awka respectively. Group D has Remo Stars, Shooting Stars, Sporting Lagos and Sunshine Stars, while Group E has Abia Warriors, Enyimba FC, Heartland FC and Rangers International.

Kwara United FC is being Coordinated by Taiwo Akande, and handled by Coach Abdulkadri Bolaji, and assisted by Coach Jimoh Abdulkadri.
