Olakunle’s Euro Stars shine bright in ₦2 million OK7 Soccer Arena thriller

*Honoured with Photography Masterclass Award

Europe-based Nigerian football sensation, Olakunle Olusegun led from the front on Saturday June 13, 2026, as Team Olakunle delivered a commanding performance to defeat Team Adekunle TV 8-5 in a thrilling celebrity football showdown at the prestigious OK7 Soccer Arena, Ilorin.

The much-anticipated encounter, which attracted football enthusiasts and sports stakeholders from across Kwara State, lived up to its billing as a spectacle of skill, flair, and entertainment, with Team Olakunle walking away with the coveted winner-takes-all ₦2 million prize money.

Featuring an array of stars, including Europe-based professionals Olakunle Olusegun, Mubarak Gata, and Noah Razaq (Pogba), Team Olakunle dazzled spectators with a breathtaking display of attacking football, showcasing the quality and experience acquired on foreign soil.

The opening exchanges were fiercely contested as Team Adekunle TV, marshalled by midfield general Shola Abdulraheem, matched their opponents stride for stride.

Abdulraheem’s composure and creativity in midfield helped his side maintain balance in the early stages, while Team Adekunle TV threatened on the counterattack.

However, the tide soon turned as Team Olakunle began to dominate possession and dictate the tempo of the game. Their relentless attacking pressure subjected the opposing goalkeeper to a barrage of shots from all angles.

Despite producing a series of remarkable saves, the overwhelmed shot-stopper could do little to prevent the flood of goals that followed.

The contest reached another level in the second half when Team Olakunle introduced a fresh wave of talent.

Veteran midfield maestro, Amos Girigi brought composure and control, while the pace of Ebenezer Olusegun, the trickery of Success Ojo, and the clinical finishing of Emmanuel Kolo proved too much for Team Adekunle TV to handle.

The substitutions injected renewed energy into the side, stretching the opposition defence and creating numerous scoring opportunities. As the goals continued to flow, Team Olakunle firmly established their superiority, delighting the packed crowd with a masterclass in attacking football.

The atmosphere inside the OK7 Soccer Arena was electric, with every available seat occupied and fans lining the perimeter of the pitch to witness the blockbuster encounter.

Supporters from both camps created a carnival-like atmosphere, turning the match into one of the most memorable football events in Ilorin this year.

Among the distinguished personalities present were veteran broadcaster Bayour Issah, renowned sports writer Jimoh Bashir, La Liga-trained tactical analyst and Arsenal Kiddies Football Academy coach Soni Ahamioje, Coach Peter Muyiwa Olajide, Coach Nimat Saliman, World Cup-bound photojournalist Abdul Momoh, ace referee Olayinka Ridwan popularly known as “Pep,” and retired Superintendent of Police Olusegun, father of Olakunle Olusegun.

Speaking after the victory, Team Olakunle Captain and Super Eagles star, Olakunle Olusegun described the initiative as an opportunity to reconnect with the community and promote fitness among football professionals during the off-season.

“This is our way of giving back to society and keeping players active and fit ahead of the new football season. Football remains a powerful tool for unity, inspiration, and community development, and we are happy to be part of this initiative,” he said.

In recognition of his contributions to football development and humanitarian causes, Olakunle Olusegun was also honoured with the prestigious Photography Masterclass Award by internationally acclaimed photojournalist Abdul Momoh.

The award celebrates individuals who have used their platform to positively impact society while inspiring the next generation of athletes and young Nigerians.

The entertaining encounter once again underscored the growing popularity of celebrity and exhibition football matches in Kwara State, while highlighting the immense football talent and community spirit that continue to thrive in the region.
