This year’s edition of the Female Football Pre-Season tournament ahead of the Nationwide Female Football League, being organised by Olaoye Abimbola Football Academy will hold between November 11th to 14th, in Oke-Oyi, Kwara state.
The tournament, which will have female football teams from within and outside the state competing for honours will hold at Community Secondary School, Oke-Oyi, Ilorin East Local Government Area of Kwara state.
Among the teams that have already registeted to participate in the competition are FC Unity of Ondo state, Lord’s Will FA, Bring FC of Akure, Golden Queens of Ado-Ekiti, Future Queens FC, Oluyole Flaming Queens of Ibadan, Football Connect Tigress and the hosts, Olaoye Abimbola Football Academy.
Others are Mercy/Grace Female Football Academy, Ore, Ondo State, Future Queens of Osogbo, Osun State, Lagelu Queens of lbadan and Skimmer Queens of Akure.
The Organizer, Chief (Mrs) Olaoye Abimbola said that the competition was introduced to assist the development of girl-child, in line with the believe that “if you train a lady, you are training a nation”.
She also added that the tournament, which holds annually, was initiated to assist the development of female football, and to engage the girl-child meaningfully.
Chief Mrs Abimbola therefore, called for the support of the government and good people of the state, as well as the stakeholders, in empowering the female folks in the society.
She commended the state government for encouraging the needed atmosphere for sports, and especially the development of female football.
