Senator Rafiu throws weight behind Toyin Saraki Baseball and Softball Tournament

The second edition of the Barrister Toyin Ojora Saraki International Baseball and Softball competition has received a huge boost with the latest support coming from Distinguished Senator Rafiu Ibrahim.

Playing host to the organizers of the tournament today Monday December 5th, 2020 in his country home, the PDP Senatorial candidate for the Kwara South District in the forthcoming general elections expressed his delight over the consistency of the competition.

He described the initiative as a “noble cause” by which the youths are engaged to engender a society devoid of social vices that are practically being committed by the youths.

“I would like to commend you for holding on the passion of organising this tournament despite the challenges we are facing. This time around, we will support you psychologically and financially. We are happy to be part of the history you’re making” he remarked.

Senator Rafiu Ibrahim said that he is supporting the the initiative because of the youths, who needed a strong and well defined platform to grow stronger,  mentally and physically.

“It’s about the youths. It’s about their tomorrow. Anytime you move around, you see youths with no privilege at all, not even less privileged, and you would be afraid of tomorrow. The passion is about spreading the prosperity so that they can grow meaningfully”‘, he added.

Earlier in his remark, Ambassador Femi Temitayo Abolarin, the President and Founder of Double ‘T Baseball and Softball, who is also the organizer of the event revealed that the visit is aimed at appreciating the Senator for singlehandedly powering the first edition of the tournament in 2018 with 6.5 million naira sponsorship package, and also intimate him about this year’s edition.

While noting that the competition is now being bankrolled by the former First Lady herself, he stressed the need to recognize the pioneering efforts of former lawmaker in helping to establish a foundation that the tournament is leveraging on.

“I am happy to also inform you that the former First Lady has graciously released a sum of 15,000 USD for the prosecution of the tournament which will play host to teams from 8 states in the country, and also be witnessed by partners of our organisations from United States of America. 

Ambassador Femi added that the first edition of the tournament also inspired the partners of his organisations from America who have now sent some sports and educational materials that will be distributed to students across the state after its clearance from the port.

He further noted that the competition, which has been scheduled to commence this month will hold in Ilorin, saying “Every arrangements has been made to make this year’s edition a colourful and successful one”.

The brief and yet productive event was witnessed by the former Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development in the state,  Honourable Muideen Alalade; Honourable Abdulganiyu Abdulkareem, Director General of Senator Rafiu Campaign Organisation and Alhaji Ganiyu Dele.

Also part of the meeting are the Vice Chairman of Double T Baseball and Softball organisation, Honourable Rasheed Olanshile, the Vice Chairman of Double ‘T Baseball and SoftballBoard; Country Director, Yakub Olawale; Mrs Eyitayo Yusuf, Member Board of Directors and others.
