The Kwara State Football Association has congratulated ABS FC for their remarkable escape from relegation in the Conference C of the 2025/2026 Nigeria National League season.
In a statement released by the Chairman, Mallam Idris Abdullahi Musa Thuraya, the Association commended the resilience, determination, and unwavering spirit displayed by the Ilorin-based side in the face of daunting challenges throughout the campaign.
ABS FC had endured a turbulent season marked by various challenges, which included intense competitions, yet managed to pull through at the critical moment.
Their decisive victory on the final day, coupled with favourable results elsewhere, ensured their survival in Nigeria’s second-tier league, an achievement the FA described as “a testament to courage and belief.”
“The story of ABS FC this season is one of grit and perseverance. Despite the odds, the players, coaching crew, and management refused to give up. This is the true spirit of Kwara football,” the statement read.
The FA further noted that such resilience should serve as inspiration to other clubs in the state, particularly Kwara United FC, who are currently battling to move out of the relegation zone in the Nigeria Premier Football League.
While acknowledging the challenges faced by Kwara United this season, the Association urged the Harmony Boys to draw motivation from ABS FC’s fighting spirit and rediscover their winning mentality as the season approaches its decisive stages.
“Kwara United must take a cue from ABS FC. The same determination and refusal to surrender must be evident if the club is to retain its NPFL status. The fans believe, and the state stands firmly behind the team,” the FA emphasized.
The Kwara FA reaffirmed its commitment to supporting football development across the state, expressing confidence that both ABS FC and Kwara United will continue to make Kwara proud through resilience, discipline, and competitive excellence.
